Burrito in a jar

I am so excited to share the meals in a jar with you! There are SO many pros to help us not only prepare, but make this busy life less stressful and still home cooked and healthy.

Here is the first recipe and I will also post links for the needed freeze dried ingredients to complete this meal. Keep in mind these cans will make MANY meals and go a long way. Start building your food pantry ingredients now and if you do some at a time, before long you will have what you need to make any dish!

We have had this several times and it is so good and so simple!

Initially it takes about five minutes to make the jar. It takes about three minutes to get it cooking, and then just the time simmering. Ultimately you have a full meal with less than eight minutes manual time.

Burrito in a Jar

In a pint jar add:

· ¾ cup instant beans

· ¼ cup chopped onion

· ¼ cup bell peppers

· 1 tablespoon DH rotel tomatoes

· 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

· ½ teaspoon salt

· ¼ cup rice

· 2 beef bouillon cubes

(I also add 1 cup of dehydrated or freeze dried hamburger with about 1/2 cup of water more when I cook.)

Directions for cooking- put contents of jar into a frying pan or wide stock pot and add 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer, covered until the water is absorbed and contents are cooked.

Serve on a tortilla, with sour cream and shredded cheese. Roll into a burrito and enjoy!

This recipe makes 3 large, full burritos or 4 large but medium stuffed burritos

NOTES:

For this recipe I went to aldis and bought a case of rotel tomatoes. These are small cans that you will find in the “Mexican” section. I opened the cans and dehydrated the dehydrator on sheets. Then put them in a jar specific for this recipe.

Here are the links to each.
